Name: Shayera Hol

Appearance: A petite, winged red head with arms like a blacksmith
Age: Never stated and hard to tell with those aliens. Looks around early thirties ish
Gender: Female
Personality: At first glance, and especially as Hawk Girl, Shayera is a straight forward and brash woman, knowing what she wants and what she’s good at. Specifically, hitting things a lot and being snarky while she’s doing it. Her sense of humor is best described as the ability to make innuendos out of the word ‘innuendo’, and she is responsible for about fifty percent of the crap that snuck past the radar in both shows.
This, however, is not ALL of it. Shayera is good at continuing to be straight forward while deflecting questions and is very observant, as her totem animal would suggest.
These are key traits in a good double agent or spy,
What is not a good trait is her deep seated loyalty to her comrades in arms. She has a very good sense of when a debt is owed, especially when it’s saving someone’s life in battle. Even someone who was once an enemy can earn a bit of her trust, if they get into a situation where they are fighting together.
This loyalty leads her into the trouble described in her backstory, and though she still does tend to reach for her mace before talking, she ismuch sort of a LITTLE less confrontational than she once was.
Backstory: Little is known about Shayera’s past, only that she was a detective back on her home planet of Thanagar. Her story was that while following a group of criminals, she was led into a portal and thrown across the universe to Earth.
There, she set herself up as a hero, protecting the innocent, etc. It wasn’t until the White Martian invasion and the team up of seven heroes to repel that we know anything for sure about her.
After the formation of the Justice League, Hawk Girl spent five years defending Earth and its environs from all threats, domestic and foreign, along with her team mates. During this time, she came to consider them as family, and in the case of Jon Stewart, sliiiiiightly closer.
At the end of this period, a huge spaceship invaded, just another Thursday, but coming to the aid of the Justice League this time was the Thanagarian army. They informed the world that their sworn enemies, the Gordanians, were about to invade, but that they had a plan to protect Earth from this invasion, namely, a huge shield to cover the planet.
They also revealed that Lt. Shayera Hol had been sent intentionally to gather information on Earth and its people.
With this information, the Thanagarians were able to defeat the Justice League, ostensibly to keep them from interfering with the construction of the shield. They escaped soon afterwards.
Unfortunately, however talented Shayera was in the realm of subterfuge, she forgot the rule that you are never supposed to trust those in power. The ‘shield’ that the Thanagarians were building, was actually part of a giant space bridge that would destroy Earth as soon as it was turned on.
Torn between her duty to her superiors, and loyalty to the adopted home she had been protecting for so long, Shayera brought this information and Green Lantern’s ring to the Justice League, making herself twice forsworn.
When her betrayal was discovered, she was imprisoned, pending trial. Thank goodness the Justice League attacked the Thanagarian army soon after, and won.
Though the Justice League (by one vote) decided to let her remain, Shayera felt that she could not in good conscience go back to them, after betraying both homes. So she went on a soul-searching journey and ended up at Dr. Fate’s house.
About halfway into the third season, she does come back, and eventually redeems herself to her team mates and herself, though she still carries that guilt.
Moral Standing: ...Too Lawful to be Chaotic, and too Chaotic to be Lawful, but approximately Good in either of those.
Dreams: To find some measure of peace with herself, to continue to fight and protect, and maybe to eventually HAVE that son Batman said she had in the future.Or any kids at all.
Fears: Aside from the usual of letting her team down. Again. Or failing at saving the world, Shayera is terrified of confined spaces.
Extra: She carries a mace made of Nth metal, which has special properties including disrupting magic, generating electricity, and basically blowing stuff up when she hits it.
Character Location: Shayera lives in the Watchtower, a giant satellite base. She will be bringing no location.
